A classic sci fi adventure. Great atmospheric backdrop. A really good moody scrolling game.
The game starts out in typical 16th century fashion with the player clinging, washed ashore on the coast of Canada, the player is rescued and taken care of by the locals and when the player finally regains consciousness, he finds himself in an alternate 1985.
Noticeably not highlighted by the player in any way is the way he uses his highly anticipated pygmy staff to prove that he’s a big science fiction badass.
The game pretty much doesn’t make the player give any notice that he is in fact, a science fiction badass because the whole point of the game is to facilitate learning a lesson, inspire you to become a better person and learn a life lesson. The entire point of the game is to inspire change.
The player follows a path that leads him through a city experiencing a catastrophic power failure and it’s up to the player to research the mechanics and evidence of the power outage, to make sure that the people of California, or in this case Hollywood who directed the game, can’t use the player as a scapegoat for any kind of technological failings.
The game is made to teach you how to be better or at the very least inspire you to be better. You get quests to accomplish and quests to appreciate that has nothing to do with “how to be a better person” or getting better at what it is you want to be or do, it’s about learning about the universe, doing things that are good to do, and things that will make you happy. The game is about learning a lesson.
The game isn’t just going to do anything for you in terms of improving at something because there’s no reward system here, the player learns the lessons in a non-linear way which prevents the player from getting any kind of certificates or rewards for doing certain things, the only reward you get is for just learning a lesson, that’s the way the game was designed.

– I tried to avoid buttons with 2 images and buttons with 3 images.
