I am doing some queries to Oracle database and for the part in which I need to search for an exact string in a column, I do something like this:

However, sometimes I need to search for a substring of the search_string, and it gets quite hard to search for an exact string with LIKE clause. The one way I could think of was to make a SUBSTRING on a single column called search_string_column, which would have everything before the search_string and everything after it and put it in a separate column called search_string, which would have all the search_string.
