Convolution Features:
Blur/Sharpen:
Blur and sharpen are very common effects and Convolution implements both.
To apply a blur effects:
Select the Blur effect from the Effects dialog
Enter the radius of the blur in pixels in the Blur radius field
Enter the amount of blur you want by dragging the slider up/down
If you click the mouse somewhere inside the blur area, the blur effect will be applied and the image will blurred.
To apply a sharpen effect:
Select the Sharpen effect from the Effects dialog
Enter the amount of sharpen you want by dragging the slider up/down
Apply the effect by clicking inside the area where you want to apply the sharpening
Emboss:
The Emboss effect can be used to simulate paper folds, embossing or letterpress printing.
To apply an emboss effect:
Select the Emboss effect from the Effects dialog
Use the slider to define the amount of emboss you want
Apply the effect by clicking inside the area where you want to apply the embossing
Color brightening:
Color brightening is used to brighten the colors of an image.

Convolution Requirements:
You must have ImageMagick installed on your system. ImageMagick should be able to read all the file formats supported by Paint.NET like GIF, JPG, PNG, BMP, etc. If you are using MacOS or Linux you have to download the portable version of ImageMagick. Installation:
Unzip the archive in the plugins folder of your Paint.NET installation directory. To find the plugins directory go to File > Settings > Options > Plugins and click on “…” next to plugins button. Copy the full path to your plugins folder.

The Blend Blur Glow Control tool is made by analogy with the standard Blur Gradient tool. It allows you to apply the blur effect and gradient effect at the same time. With the Blend option enabled the blend effect is applied to the center of the image and the gradient effect to the outside.

The Convolution plugin allows you to alter the colors of a given area in relation to the colors at its neighboring area in order to get a blur or emboss effect. This is an original algorithm that has been discovered by a developer.
The algorithm can affect two areas of a single image or can be applied to multiple parts of a single image. The area where the algorithm is applied affects the colors of the surroundings of this area as well.
When you apply this plugin you have five options. With each option, a single color can be affected in relation to the color of its neighboring area. These settings can be changed and animated in the tool dialog which you can access by clicking the eye icon in the top right corner of the view.
For the most accurate effects, enable the option “Source Rectangle”, otherwise the plugin works with the bounding box of the area that you choose.
Note: Blending colors are a proof of concept and need to be improved for greater blending precision.
How to use Convolution in Paint.NET:
1. Before you apply the plugin, go to the tool dialog by clicking the eye icon in the top right corner.
2. Select the option “Convolution” and set the values in the dialog as described above.
3. Choose “Source Rectangle” in order to enable the plugin to work in an area of your image.
4. Apply the plugin with the option “Convolution”.
5. Now simply move the area in which you want to have the convolution effect by clicking and dragging the bounding box.
6. Move your mouse to the area in which you want to take a look at the convolution effect.
7. Click and drag the mouse in order to see how the colors will be affected.
8. Click the eye icon in the top right corner of the view in order to close the dialog.
