Where to store data in Android app?

I’m working on an Android application where I would like the user to view a stream of data, as they would on a display screen connected to a PC or other connected device. So, the end-user would see something like this:

It would be possible for the user to change the stream of data, pause, resume, etc.
As for the server side of this app, I’m not sure where I should store the data. One option is to use Amazon’s web services, as there are services for pretty much anything. I’ve read this question, and there are definite pros and cons to this.
But with my limited knowledge, I don’t know how to implement a server-side solution that will allow the user to continue stream a live feed for as long as they want.
So, what is the best way to handle this? My only thought is to store the data locally in a file, and save it to my server using Android’s HTTP client API.
Is this the best way? How should I go about saving this data in a local file so that it can be displayed to the user? Is there an easier way?
UPDATE
To be clear, the goal is to display a live stream of data, such as an internet feed of a stock ticker, or web camera feed.
UPDATE #2
Thanks for the suggestions. I am definitely leaning towards using Amazon Web Services. However, I’ve also seen this question, which still adds up some concerns. Do you think it makes sense to save the data locally, as I have suggested, and then save it remotely to the Amazon server?

A:

Caveat: I don’t know what you’re proposing so this is just my answer to the problem as I understand it

I would just use Amazon S3

I know that sounds kind of strange at first but they have a S3 interface which, while maybe not the easiest, is certainly the most powerful

While affordable and reliable, solar energy has lagged behind wind and other renewable sources in the rate of installation due to the difficulty of meeting the cost of utility-scale generation with a distributed generation model. Lacking these benefits, are the solar farms relegated to the role of a hobbyist’s project only? Does the lack of system-scale energy storage limit the utility applications of solar?

Let’s take a look at the relevant applications for utilities and grid operators.

Utility applications

Solar renewable production credits (SRPC) are emerging as a way to provide additional flexibility for utilities and their customers in addition to the more traditional load management tools such as regulation and reactive power.

For utilities, the SRPC program is an opportunity to increase generation at peak times, potentially through the use of battery storage. An SRPC is an incentive for solar PV generation to take place during low demand periods, when PV generation has higher value for the grid operator.

Key benefits for utilities are:

Flexibility – SRPCs allow the scheduling of solar generation to take place during periods of low utility demand.

Increased Peak Generation – Small amounts of solar generation can help utilities meet higher overall peak demand.

Levelised Cost of Energy (LCOE) – The addition of solar PV on a utility’s system can lead to a more cost-effective resource that still captures the maximum value for the utility. For example, a well-designed rooftop solar PV system can provide value to a grid operator even at a price below $0.05/kWh.

For grid operators, a SRPC program helps to ensure security of supply. Even if there is no solar being added to the system, the utility still receives the SRPC and can use it for the customer’s benefit – including to control residential loads – as and when the SRPC can be used.

The future of SRPCs

There have been several developments within SRPC programs. For example, energy storage is becoming more economical. Specifically, battery storage is gaining from economies of scale, resulting in steadily cheaper prices. Also, batteries are inherently more flexible than their
