Plot
Ted says that all his mistakes in the past have made him promise not to let any more mistakes ruin his life, and he plans to keep this promise by apologizing to the women in his life, starting with his mother.

The morning after the heartbreak, Barney and Robin discuss Barney’s hope to start his own line of swimwear. Robin then notices Barney’s collection of swimwear and says that his designs are terrible. Barney replies that he thought he was a genius at first, but after he graduated from college, “All I did was design swim trunks for grown men.”

In Central Park, Robin finds a newly-released photo of herself as a child with a sad expression on her face. She looks at the picture again and again and decides that she will do something to change her life. After having dinner with her father, she plans to tell him about her decision. Instead, she finds herself calling Ted to break up with him.

At the movie theater, Lily comes to see Marshall and Robin. She invites them to her hotel room, where she has a collection of mementos from their travels together. They then notice that she brought a pad of paper and a marker and says that she is making a list of reasons why she and Marshall should get married
